Badgers off the top as they draw to Stafford
It took a stirring second half performance to win a share of the spoils, lost in a disastrous 15 minute spell at the end of the first half. Goals from substitute Marc Smith and an own goal from Stafford captain Bobby Wilson had brought Eastwood back onto level terms, and only the referee’s whistle denied them a winner. In a cautious opening neither team managed a shot in anger.
GMB Panthers lose top spot
The GMB Panthers slipped from top of the standings after suffering defeat at the much improved Newcastle Vipers on Sunday where the hosts were back-stopped by former Panthers’ goalie Michel Robinson.
Hughes proves too sharp for Northampton
Ian McParland opted for the midfield which finished so strongly against Burton Albion last week giving loanee Matt Ritchie his first start for Notts County. He also deemed England international Sol Campbell not fit enough for his debut and started with the centre back pairing of Mike Edwards and John Thompson.
