India Kick-off 20/20 with win at Trent Bridge
India began their title defence in the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in style on Saturday at Trent Bridge, defeating Bangladesh by 25 runs. Star of the evening was 22 year old spinner Pragyan Ojha who destroyed Bangladesh’s batting line-up with a magic spell of 4 for 21. Report our report inside
Who remembers the Main Stand fire from 1968?
Younger readers may not be aware that Forest, like Bradford, also had a stand burn down during a game, but thankfully without loss of life. James Ottway reflects on the game against Leeds on August 24, 1968, a time when Forest were in the old First Division, hardly ripping up trees, but playing delightful football, and winning nothing, under the stewardship of Johnny Carey. Clifton draw again in a rain ravaged weekend of cricket
The weather affected some of the matches in the Nottinghamshire Premier Cricket League on Saturday with no play at all in the games at Plumtree .v. West Indian Cavaliers and at Attenborough .v. Wollaton. Cuckney’s game, at home to Clifton, was delayed until 3pm and reduced to 35 overs per side. Clifton won the toss, asked Cuckney to bat and then bowled them out for 160 in the final over.
