Blidworth Welfare 0 – 5 Forest Town

Forest Town stormed to the top of the league on Tuesday night at Blidworth.

In doing so they recorded their ninth consecutive win in the league. They have scored 31 goals and conceded just 2 in that run.

They also condemned Blidworth to their heaviest defeat this season.

Town’s intentions were clear from the start, debutant Wayne Bennett firing a dipping 20 yard drive over the bar on 10 minutes.

Forest Town pushed forward and it wasn’t long before they took the lead. The ball played by Jack Townroe to Mark Carter 20 yards out and the midfielder unleashing a superb shot that dipped over Davies and into the top far corner of the net.

Ten minutes later Davies was wishing he had the ball in his hands instead of his head as he let Mark Hurst’s low 25 yard drive slip through his fingers and into the net to make it 2-0.

Forest Town’s sharp passing game was causing the home team problems, in contrast to the other end where the only danger was a wayward goal-kick from Captain Jason Johnson that had everybody scrambling back to cover.

The second half was all Forest Town and although Blidworth worked extremely hard, most of the time they were chasing shadows.

Mark Hurst scored his second on the hour mark, finishing off a sweeping move down the right flank involving Townroe and Mark Robinson, with a side foot from 6 yards.

Top scorer Craig Jackson made it four with 10 minutes to go. Latching onto a Townroe’s through ball the striker cut inside and fired a curling drive into the roof of the net.

The visitors completed the scoring just before the final whistle, Lewis Croucher receiving the ball on the edge of the box and from a difficult angle blasted the ball past Davies.
